COUNTRY: SOUTH AFRICA

THE WINEMAKER: INTELLEGO
Jurgen worked with the great Eben Sadie for a vintage in Spain (at Terroir Al Limit in Priorat) and also South Africa, with further stints in France (at Matassa with Tom Lubbe, Stephane Ogier, Roc d’Anglade) and in New Zealand and Russia (where Juregn made the premium wines for a big winery during 2008 and 2009). Subsequently, he worked for 4 years at Lammershoek with Craig Hawkins, but since January 2015 has solely concentrated on Intellego and renting vineyards for his project.
“Halagasha” is the Xhosa term which this South Africa tribe use when celebrating the score of a soccer goal. Pinotage is a celebration of what we can achieve with this local variety in South Africa and Halagasha is just one of many examples of this diverse style.
Whole bunch fermented under semi-carbonic conditions for 8 days in stainless steel tanks. Aged for 5 months in 225L barrels after which it spends 4 weeks in stainless steel tanks before bottling.
