Gonzalo Rondriguz is a ball of energy who founded his own bodegas after tiring of the larger ‘factories’ he was working for. He and his friends the Laorden’s, who own over 90 hectares of Alavesa and Alta vines set about picking the best 9 ha, all of which are farmed organically, to give Gonzalo some of the highest, oldest and frankly best vineyard sites in Rioja. 2018 will be his fourth vintage and the style has changed over time, but not his determination to produce fresh, drinkable and classy wines from his home region (he grew up in Logrono). His experimentation is already yielding some fascinating results, and these will come on line in the next year or so, and his ideas will make for an exciting future, so we are very happy to be part of that. The 4 Elementos wines are the house style, delicious, easy going but serious nonetheless. The white is pure Viura, the red a blend of Tempranilla Garnacha and Viura sourced from younger vines planted at altitude in Rioja Altas southernmost limits. Confessionario Blanco is a Tempranillo Blanco with a touch of Malvasia aged in stainless steel after 6 months on lees offering a mineral fresh quite textured style of white.

The red is a blend of Tempranillo and Garnacha from two plots that look over the Alta vineyards, but are in fact Alavesa. These are partially whole bunch vinified and raised in old wood for threemonths and settled in tank, being bottled with no additional SO2.
