AbstractSour cherry, dark berries, dry bubbles
Winemaker
Ancre Hill works biodynamically near Monmouth. Its vineyard philosophy centres on soil health and natural processes, exploring what Welsh winegrowing can offer on its own terms.
Wine
This red pét-nat uses Triomphe, with ancestral-method fermentation creating bubbles from the grapes' own sugar. Sour cherry and darker berries, with a dry, lightly herbal finish and lively bubbles. It is a red to chill, particularly for pizza, grilled peppers or something smoky from the barbecue. The colour is deep; the drinking is refreshingly light.
Origin
Near Monmouth, the estate's vineyard ground includes sandstone, ancient mudstone and a vein of limestone. The sheltered Welsh setting provides a long, cool season. That rhythm helps preserve the acidity behind the red fruit and bubbles.
