Winemaker
Nicolas Despagne's work at Maison Blanche is rooted in respect for the vineyard. Organic and biodynamic practices form part of a long-term relationship with the family estate.
Wine
The 2007 offers the chance to taste Maison Blanche with substantial bottle age, its original fruit now joined by more developed detail. Plum gives way to cedar, earth and a more savoury expression of Bordeaux. The tannins have had time to settle, so open gently and allow the wine to unfold. Roast beef, mushrooms or a simple dish of beans will leave room for its finer detail.
Origin
Montagne Saint-Émilion lies on Bordeaux's right bank. Clay-limestone and clay-sand soils give the vineyards a varied foundation, under a climate influenced by the Atlantic. Warm growing periods bring ripe Merlot, while the season's cooler intervals help retain balance.
