AbstractPlum, blackberry, spicy
Primitivo from L'Archetipo's synergistically farmed Puglian vineyards, with ripe depth and a savoury finish.
Winemaker
Francesco Valentino Dibenedetto is an agronomist and farmer. He began moving the family property towards organic agriculture in the 1980s, then explored biodynamics from 2000.
At L'Archetipo he developed a synergistic approach to farming, keeping plant cover and soil life central to the vineyard. His family works with local Puglian varieties, including Primitivo and Susumaniello. Fermentation starts with indigenous yeasts, followed by restrained cellar handling.
Wine
Primitivo from L'Archetipo's synergistically farmed vineyards near Castellaneta. Native fermentation and restrained cellar handling follow the vineyard work.
Plum and dark berries come with savoury spice and a substantial body. This is the estate's still red, distinct from its sparkling Susumaniello rosé.
Origin
Castellaneta lies in inland Puglia. Sandstone-derived soils combine sand, gravel and clay-like material beneath the vineyards.
