AbstractCherry, herbal, earthy
Sangiovese meets white Trebbiano in a lighter Tuscan red, with enough acidity to keep it lively.
Winemaker
Fattoria di Sammontana is a family farm at Montelupo Fiorentino, west of Florence. Daniele and Dario continue its fourth generation of farming, with vines growing alongside olive groves and other crops.
The vineyards are farmed organically, using biodynamic practices. Legumes and grasses are sown between the rows after harvest to cover and feed the soil. Alongside traditional Tuscan reds, the family makes white blends and rosé fermented in clay.
Wine
Alberese combines red Sangiovese with white Trebbiano from Sammontana's Tuscan vineyards. The white grapes distinguish it from the estate's straight Sangiovese and more structured Chianti Superiore.
Cherry, dried herbs and a fine earthy edge, with a lighter body and gentle grip. Serve a little cool.
Origin
The estate lies west of Florence, in the hills around Montelupo Fiorentino. Alberese takes its name from the local limestone-rich ground.
