Winemaker
Domaine de Valcros belongs to a family with six generations of winegrowing around Paulilles and Port-Vendres. Its steep vineyards are divided into narrow terraces above the Mediterranean.

Maintaining those terraces is a large part of the work. Grenache supplies the fruit for Banyuls, the local fortified wine; the Rimage bottling preserves its berry character rather than developing the nutty flavours of long oxidative ageing.

Dark berry fruit, cocoa and a generous sweetness, held by enough freshness to keep the finish clean. This is a small-glass wine for dark chocolate, blue cheese or a quiet end to dinner.

Origin
Banyuls sits on the Côte Vermeille, close to the Spanish border. Vines occupy steep terraces above the Mediterranean, with schist underfoot and sea air all around.
