AbstractCitrus, rounded, saline
An inland Albariño, fermented in steel and left on its lees to build texture.
Winemaker
José Antonio Canda Gil, known as Pepe, founded Terras do Sur in 2016 after working as a welder in Spain and Scotland. His family had grown grapes around Crecente for generations; he began bottling their wines under his own name.
His small parcels lie above the Miño in inland Rías Baixas. He farms organically, making Albariño and the less familiar red grape Brancellao with native yeasts.
Wine
Albariño from sandy granite around Crecente is directly pressed and fermented with native yeasts in stainless steel. Six months on the lees build texture without oak flavour.
The inland position gives a fuller middle than the coolest coastal sites. Citrus fruit and bright acidity keep that roundness in balance.
Origin
Condado do Tea lies inland in southern Rías Baixas, close to Portugal. Granite-derived vineyard soils form part of the landscape around Crecente.
