AbstractApple, Citrus, Vibrant
A lively, dry Chenin with bright orchard fruit, a little roundness and a fresh, lingering finish.
Winemaker
Two long-time friends, one family domaine, and a shared belief in Amboise. Jean-Baptiste Bonnigal and Stéphane Bodet took over together in 2015, continuing a family story that began in 1927.
Based on the Rue d’Enfer in Limeray, they work with Chenin Blanc, Côt and the other local varieties, treating each parcel individually. Organic and biodynamic practices guide the vineyard work; hand harvesting and native-yeast fermentations carry that care into the cellar.
Origin
The domaine is based near Amboise in the central Loire, where clay and flint lie over limestone. Chenin has a long history here, alongside the neighbouring vineyards of Vouvray and Montlouis.
Électron Libre 2024 is bottled as Vin de France. A small harvest meant supplementing the domaine’s own Chenin with grapes from fellow growers, so this is a broader selection rather than a single-vineyard bottling.
Wine
Électron Libre brings Chenin’s orchard fruit and lively freshness together in an easy, flowing white. Apple and pear lead, with citrus and white flowers following through. There is a little softness around the fruit, then a clean, dry finish that keeps it moving.
Picked by hand and raised on its fine lees, it has enough substance for the table while remaining bright and refreshing. Serve cool with grilled fish, seafood or fresh goat’s cheese.
