AbstractBerry, floral, peppery
Cinsault leads this lightly extracted Minervois, with Carignan and Syrah adding definition.
Winemaker
Benjamin Taillandier left his job in the Frontonnais in 2007 and established his own domaine at Caunes-Minervois. He began with old Grenache and Syrah, later adding Cinsault, Carignan and Terret Gris.
He farms organically at the foot of the Montagne Noire, using natural fermentation and little sulphur. Gentle extraction keeps his reds fragrant and supple, even with the ripe fruit of the Languedoc.
Wine
Cinsault leads Laguzelle, with Carignan and Syrah adding definition. Restrained extraction keeps the wine fragrant and supple.
Red berries, a floral lift and a little pepper. The palate is light, dry and refreshingly clear, with no need for oak to make the point.
Origin
The Minervois lies inland in the Languedoc, between Mediterranean warmth and the foothills of the Montagne Noire. Limestone and stony clay soils are part of the regional landscape.
