AbstractDark cherries, plum, bright acidity
Winemaker
Paolo at Cascina Zerbetta works a small farm near Quargnento. Organic vineyard practices and patient observation shape a project closely connected to its Monferrato home.
Wine
La Zerbetta is Barbera fermented in steel and given a long, measured maturation. Dark cherry and plum, with the bright acidity that makes Barbera such a good food wine. There is ripe depth, but the palate remains mobile. Drink with ragù, roast pork or a plate of mushrooms and polenta.
Origin
Quargnento lies in the rolling Monferrato hills of Piedmont. Clay-rich ground forms part of Cascina Zerbetta's vineyard landscape. Warm summers ripen Barbera, while the grape's natural acidity remains an important part of the wine's structure.
