AbstractOrange, savoury, textured
Tibouren gives this Provençal rosé its distinctive character, developed through ageing in large old casks.
Winemaker
Clos Cibonne has kept Tibouren at the centre of its vineyards while much of Provence has turned to other varieties. The Roux family's estate lies at Le Pradet, near Toulon and the Mediterranean.
Recognised among the Côtes de Provence crus classés in the 1950s, it is particularly known for rosé aged in large old wooden casks. Tibouren and that patient ageing give the wines a savoury character and more texture than most pale Provençal rosés.
Wine
Traditional ageing in old large wooden casks gives the Tibouren-led blend time to develop.
Orange peel, red fruit and an understated savoury complexity. This has more texture and depth than a simple summer rosé, while remaining fresh.
Origin
Clos Cibonne lies at Le Pradet, near Toulon and the Mediterranean. Tibouren thrives in this coastal setting.
