AbstractLemon, rounded, bright
Chardonnay gives this Cévennes blend its body; Vermentino brings a firmer, more refreshing edge.
Winemaker
Mas de Costeplane lies between the Mediterranean and the Cévennes, on a clay-limestone plateau at Cannes-et-Clairan. Organic certification dates to 1989, followed by Demeter biodynamic certification in 2011.
Loïc Manchec works with the owners' daughter Françoise. The vineyards include old Carignan planted in 1958, alongside Merlot, Syrah, Grenache and white varieties. Natural yeasts are used in the cellar, with both blends and single-variety wines in the range.
Wine
Lou Canoun Blanc blends Chardonnay and Vermentino from Costeplane's biodynamic vineyards on the Cévennes clay-limestone plateau.
Chardonnay gives the wine its body; Vermentino adds citrus and a firmer finish. It is the estate's easy white blend, alongside the more concentrated single-variety Vermentinù.
Origin
Costeplane occupies an isolated clay-limestone plateau at Cannes-et-Clairan in the Gard. Mediterranean sunshine ripens the fruit, while cool air descending from the Cévennes at night slows the pace.
