AbstractCherry, floral, savoury
Mencía from old hillside vines around Corullón, showing a specific village within Bierzo.

Winemaker
José Antonio García works with old vineyards around Corullón and Valtuille de Abajo in Bierzo. The two villages connect both sides of his family to the region.

He preserves old vines and farms organically. Mencía is the principal red variety, but he keeps wines from different villages and sites separate. Corullón comes from hillside parcels around that village, with a different setting from the vineyards around Valtuille.

Wine
Corullón centres on Mencía from old vines around the village.

Cherry fruit and a floral lift, with a savoury undertone and fine grip. Mencía can give a red that feels both immediate and layered.

Origin
Corullón lies in Bierzo, in northwestern Spain. Slate and other stony soils occur across its hillside vineyards, with both Atlantic and inland influences on the climate.
