AbstractBlackberry, pepper, herbal
Syrah, Carignan and Grenache from several harvests; Lot 23 identifies the blend, not a vintage.
Winemaker
Le Soula began in 2001 with Gérard Gauby and wine merchants Roy Richards and Mark Walford. They saw the potential of neglected vineyards high in the Fenouillèdes and brought them back into cultivation.
The scattered parcels rise above the Roussillon plain, on granite and schist. Biodynamic farming and long ageing shape the wines. The vintage bottlings develop slowly before release; Trigone combines different harvests, with a lot number identifying each blend.
Wine
Trigone Rouge combines Syrah, Carignan and Grenache from different parcels and harvests. Lot 23 identifies this release, rather than a single vintage.
High Fenouillèdes vineyards bring cooler nights than the Roussillon plain. Dark berries, pepper and herbs come with a fresher, more supple shape than Le Soula's mature vintage red.
Origin
The Fenouillèdes rises above the warmer Roussillon plain. Decomposed granite and areas of schist underpin the scattered vineyards.
