SAM’S FAVOURITES
An utterly delicious sense of place.

Some are recent discoveries. Others have been favourites for years. All are wines that speak to me.
Each expresses a particular place. You taste the character of the vineyard, the grapes and the season, shaped by people who care deeply about what they grow.
Behind these bottles are winemakers whose stories I connect with and whose work I admire.
These are some of my favourite wines to drink. A specific sense of place, and above all, utterly delicious.
THE PEOPLE BEHIND THE BOTTLES
Wines with people behind them.
My connection with these wines goes beyond what’s in the glass. It’s also about the people who make them. Their stories. Their relationship with the land and the choices they make.
Biodynamic farming is part of that connection. An attentive way of working that treats the vineyard as a living whole, asking growers to observe, participate and respond.
These wines carry their own voice. With character that's specific to its place, expressed in a way that makes me want another glass.
WHY THESE WINES?
Wines I love spending time with.
Choosing an unfamiliar wine can be difficult. This is my way of giving you a place to start: bottles I love drinking, with a personal introduction to what makes each one worth discovering.
This is a personal selection. Some are current favourites. Others are wines I’ve returned to for years.
What draws me in is nuance. Wines that give something of themselves, then reveal a little more as you spend time with them. A detail you hadn’t noticed. A different expression as the wine opens in the glass.
Each has a particular sense of place. Each offers value for what it is. And each earns its place here because I love drinking it.
These are wines to get to know.
